Those We Help
Joe Singley - Disease Management Success
Joe Singley
Joe Singley is the Director of Logistics for Lanco Trucking, a division of the Langdale Company. About 10 years ago he started having stange symptoms which he couldn’t explain such as blurred vision and frequent urination. He really didn’t consider it being anything serious.
During a company sponsored health screening conducted by the Lowndes County Partnership for Health he had his glucose checked. His reading was 550 while normal blood sugar readings should be no higher than 110 (fasting). He thought the reading may be high because of something he had eaten the night before but he agreed to go see a physician the following week for further testing.
The physician confirmed that the reading was in the 550 range and diagnosed Joe with Type II Diabetes. He immediately placed Joe on medication, gave him a diet plan and recommended regular exercise.
Since then Joe has lost 60 pounds and been able to stop taking blood pressure medication. Joe says that he always thought he felt ok but now says he feels great. He continues to exercise and watch his diet. He credits the Lowndes County Partnership for Health for helping him get on the path to better health.
